Hi there. My name is Andrew Jones. I bought my first Ducati in 1980; a 1974 750 Sport with a mere 5 previous owners, who managed to commit numerous bodges. I proceeded to do a few more in an effort to keep the poor thing going, then did the sensible thing and sold it to my brother! I last saw the bike 10 years ago in a magazine fully restored (wish I'd kept it now!).
Despite getting off to a bad start with Ducati I was smitten by the looks and handling of the bike and soon found myself trading in my XJ550 for a 1979 900ss which I have to this day.

I turned to the dark side (GSXR1100) again after my second major engine failure in 1989 but returned to the fold when the 916 came out. I now own a second series Senna.
What's this got to do with singles you ask? Absolutely nothing, but after finally rebuilding the 900SS after 13 years I got a taste for working in the garage again. I have always loved the look of the singles, so I bought a 450 Scrambler to restore, six months later I'd finished (as if!) and the disease had got hold. I now have a 450 Desmo Silver Shotgun, a basket case 250 Desmo and a 250 Mark III to restore which will keep me occupied for the next few years.

I volunteered for this group because I believe that the profile of the older bikes within the club must be raised. I have been critical of the club in this respect but now we have the opportunity to rectify this, so we must grasp it!
I've managed to build up some great global contacts over the last couple of years and the internet has made the finding of parts and the exchange of information easier than ever.
