Hi there. My name is Dave Knight, but I'm known to most of the Ducatisti as Spaggy. This name was bestowed upon me by the best mate I ever had, who is sadly no longer with us. He couldn't get his tongue to understand the softer gg's of Spaggiari, so Spaggy was the result.
After starting my Ducati apprenticeship with a 160 Monza Junior, I moved on to a Spanish-built (by Mototrans) 250 24 Horas (or 24 Horrors as most would label the monster made from case hardened cheese and dodgy fibreglass).
Undaunted by the experience, I bought a 1974 750GT from Mick Walker in March 1975, and I still own it. I also have a '78 860GTS, and a crate of bits that used to be an 860 Mk111, so valve-spring bevels are a bit more than just an interesting sideline to me. I also possess a 906 Paso and a Project 900 Bitsa (Desmo this time) so will be participating in the Desmobevels and CagivaEra groups too.
I see this Group as being a great way for other fossils like myself to keep in touch, to pass on info about where to find obscure bits, and to help each other with practical solutions to the design flaws that Ducati deliberately engineered into the old bevel twins in order for them to deliver the character required by the discerning owner.
Above all, though, it's not what I want, it's what you want, so please feel free to contribute to the greater good of the Springtwins Group by emailing me with your suggestions, ideas and complaints (as if I'll listen!)

how to win a World Title (Oh yeah!)
Has anyone modified GT (or derivatives) rocker arms to needle roller bearing
spec instead of plain bush bearings? Successfully or unsuccessfully?
On the recent freshening up of the GT heads I noticed the majority of the
rocker pivot pins were noticeably worn. It (the engine) has only done just
over 50,000km so is by no means long in the tooth.
